Also, it shows that it is formatted Mac OS extended files system. Verify and repair functionality give the same errors as with Disk Utility. Using Paragon's NTFS for Mac 15: the external HD shows up, but can only be mounted read-only.Replugging the HD drive / Restarting MacBook with external HD plugged in: doesn't make a difference.Restarting in safe mode (CMD+R when rebooting): the external HD does not appear in Disk Utility when using safe mode.Disk Utility's verify and repair: it says it's unable to complete the verification and that it is unable to repair (advising me to format the drive).I do recall that I formatted the drive in NTFS in order to use in on both Windows and Mac, but Disk Utility says that it's formatted Mac OS extended files system, which I understand is HFS+ (based on some googling).Ĭould any of you advise me on how to make the external HD accessible again? If it does, it's read-only and very slow to access. Currently, the external hard drive rarely shows up in Finder or in Disk Utility. Ever since the update, I have trouble accessing and using my external hard drive (Hitachi Touro USB 3.0). Recently I have updated the operating system of my MacBook to Sierra (10.12.5).
